Silky, Killian, and the Admiral pose outside Silky's. Silky O'Sullivan's present location on Beale Street, formerly the Gallina Building, is over 100 years old and has more recorded history than any other building on Beale Street. It was a saloon that ran all day and night with as amany as 14 bartenders. In addition to the bar and restaurant, there was a poker room and a race horse room. There were also hotel rooms that were especially favored by the theatrical and sporting world who visited Memphis. So we make a toast to the visitors of the past -- such as Carusso and McCormick, opera stars and legends who partied there. The Walk of Fame on the patio included handprints and signatures of such greats as : Bob Hope, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Danny Thomas, and many other stars. A documented piece of the Blarney Stone from Blarney Castle, Ireland, is located on the north front of the patio -- So, when you visit, join the millions who have kissed the Blarney Stone for good luck and the gift of eloquence. |
